A great actor and a great theatre company join forces to present one of the greatest plays of world literature. Simon Russell Beale plays the title role in the Royal National Theatre's new production of Shakespeare's Hamlet, which visits Dublin as part of an international tour that includes performances in Elsinore Castle itself.

Simon Russell Beale has been acclaimed as one of the best classical actors of present times; he has played lago at the National and Richard III at the RDC, and won 1999 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor for his appearance in the National's Candide. This production of Hamlet reunites Russell Beale with director John Caird, who won the 1999 Olivier for Best Musical Production for Candide.

The world-class cast of Hamlet also includes Sara Kestelman (Copenhagen, Cabaret, Peter Brook's A Midsummer Night's Dream) as Gertrude, Denis Quilley as Polonius, and Cathryn Bradshaw as Ophelia.
