Throughout the nineties, Blue Raincoat Theatre Company emerged as one of the most talented and daring ensembles in the country with their visually striking takes on both original and classic texts.

They make their first visit to the eircom Dublin Theatre Festival with an extraordinary version of William Shakespeare's Macbeth. More 'after' Macbeth than a straight rendering, director Niall Henry moulds sections of Shakespeare's text with haunting light, music and film projection to create a seamless 70 minutes of characteristically stunning imagery. The production focuses on the personal inner descent of Macbeth, from the seeds of ambition planted by his wife to his deterioration into grotesque tragedy. The precision of the choreography, light and sound is matched by nine performances full of passion.
