Ich Liebe Dich

Gavin Friday and Maurice Seezer return to live performance in Ireland for the first time in five years in a creation which brings to life the at turns twisted, hypnotic, seductive and cold-blooded world of the musical genius, Kurt Weill. From the guttural origins of Weill's music in the Berlin of the 1920s and 1930s to the romantic panache of his Broadway musicals in the 1940s, Ich Liebe Dich is a visual, vibrant and evocative world where past meets present and Friday meets Weill head on in a 21st Century musical car crash. Friday and Seezer will be joined on stage by a cast of musicians conjured up from around the world.

In a career spanning back to the fiery inception of the Virgin Prunes in 1978, Friday has consistently pushed the imaginations of his audiences. In 1987 at the infamous Blue Jaysus Cabaret, he teamed up with Maurice Seezer. Over the years the Friday-Seezer partnership has created many acclaimed albums including Each Man Kills The Thing He Loves, Adam 'n' Eve and Shag Tobacco. In addition they have been responsible for soundtracks to various movies including In the Name of the Father, The Boxer, and Short Cuts. Most recently they composed the original score for the motion picture Disco Pigs and early in 2001 they recorded a cover of T Rex's Children of the Revolution for Baz Luhrman's musical Moulin Rouge.
