The beginning of the 20th Century saw a mass exodus of Jews from Eastern Europe. Nat, Abe and Rube Meyer, like so many others, headed for the New World. Jumping shp in the dead of night to avoid immigration authorities at Ellis Island, they found themselves, not in New York, but Cobh Harbour. In a country itself struggling to find its own identity they attempted to start a new life. In 1935 they were the only Jewish family north of the Liffey. This is their story.
