A raucous new adaption of Cervantes's epic adventure with live music and wild humour. His mind inflamed by stories of noble deeds, Don Quixote sets out on his last great journey from La Mancha to Barcelona accompanied only by his servant Sancho Panza, trying to restore a sense of chivalric order to a world he sees as corrupt and debased. Travelling from their small village across hot and dusty plains and into mystical depths they encounter giants, demons, armies and great knights before triumphantly entering Barcelona. A most grave, eloquent, meticulous, delightful and ingenious history. The Death of Don Quixote was premiered at the 1993 Edinburgh Festival. The Scotsman described it as a "free flowing production combining slapstick comedy opera and song with memprable theatrical invention", while the Evening News praised its "fine cruel slapstick" and "delirious wit".
