Hailed as one of the greatest theatre companies in the world, Cheek By Jowl and the Chekhov International Theatre Festival return to Dublin after the 2004 Festival smash-hit Twelfth Night. Featuring many of Russia's leading stage and screen actors, this definitive Three Sisters is a sublime, achingly humane interpretation of one of Chekhov's finest plays.

Arguably the greatest play of the 20th century, Three Sisters is an epic family saga of three sisters who living in a small provincial town, dream of a better life in Moscow. While dealing with the death of their father and the frustrations and dissatisfactions of the present, the arrival of the debonair officer Vershinin turns their world upside down and reminds them that happiness is possible.

The Festival is delighted to welcome back this steller Russian ensemble with Chekhov's sweeping love story, Three Sisters. Under the powerful direction of Declan Donnellan, this celebrated masterpiece unforgettably bursts out into entirely new dimensions.

Performed in Russian with English surtitles.

It will blow you away because of the majesty of the acting, the simplicity of the staging and the sheer force of the play presented in Chekhov’s own language.
