Boomtown lowers the ceiling on low comedy. A property developer on the make, a pair of rural hucksters, a degradation-driven TD, and a supporting cast of thieves, punks, hookers and cannibals are thrown together on a Dublin street on the day of the Pope's visit in 1979. Twenty years on, that street and those characters are barely recognisable, all slicked up and ready for the millennium.

Both set and staged in the heart of Temple Bar, Boomtown is a high-octave, low farce celebration of the special Irish gift for excess. To the question "aren't we sick of ourselves yet?" Boomtown answers, "we'll show you the stains."

An explosive world premiere from one of Ireland's leading independent theatre companies.
