Magdalena Maciejewska

Set and costume designer, works most of all for theatre, TV theatre and film. Graduate of the Set Design Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
She is the co-creator of many TR Warszawa performances. Among her artistic achievements are performances directed by Grzegorz Jarzyna: The Magnetism of the Heart, Prince Myshkin, Celebration/Festen, Giovanni, T.E.O.R.E.M.A.T. (award at International Theatre Festival “Divine Comedy” in Kraków, 2009) and No Matter How Hard We Tried. She was also the authoress of the set design and costumes for the following TR Warszawa performances: Howie and Rookie Lee, The Treatment and Faithless directed by Artur Urbański, Klara’s Relationships directed by Krystian Lupa, Made in China, Electronic City and Benvolio and Rosalina by Redbad Klijnstra, Whatever Happens I Love you and A Couple of Poor, Polish Speaking Romanians by Przemysław Wojcieszek, Helena S. by Aleksandra Konieczna, War Zone and Solaris. Report by Natalia Korczakowska. With Grzegorz Jarzyna she works also outside TR Warszawa. She prepared the set design for Grzegorz Jarzyna’s productions: Doctor Faustus at the Polish Theatre in Wrocław, History based on Gombrowicz in TV theatre, Medea (for which she was awarded at Small Scene Theatre Festival in Rijeka) and Lion in Winter (both at Burgtheater, Vienna) and Areteia at Schauspiel Essen. She co-operates also with Agnieszka Glińska and Redbad Klijnstra.
She is the authoress of set design and costumes for the film Changes directed by £ukasz Barczyk (2003) and costumes for the films A Gentle Woman by Mariusz Treliński (1995), Executor by Filip Zylber (1999), Silence by Michał Rosa (2001), Tulips (2004) The Wedding by Wojciech Smarzowski (2004) and All That I Love by Jacek Borcuch (2009). For the Smarzowski’s film she was short-listed for the Eagle Award at the Polish Film Festival for the best costumes.
