Jacek Grudzien

Composer, music maker for theatre and film. He studied composition with Włodzimierz Kotoński and piano improvisation with Szabolcs Esztényi in Warsaw Music Academy. He participated in courses of composition in Darmstadt, Kazimierz Dolny, Patras and Dartington. In 1986-87, thanks to a postgraduate scholarship funded by Witold Lutosławski, he studied electronic music and MIDI system in London.
At present, he cooperates with the Polish Radio Experimental Studio. His interests include also theatre and film music.
He composed music for many performances and films. He co-operated, inter alia, with Grzegorz Jarzyna (The Magnetism of the Heart, Giovanni, Medea, The Lion in Winter, T.E.O.R.E.M.A.T., Areteia), Zbigniew Brzoza (Passion, Comedy of Errors, The Ball under the Eagle and others), Remigiusz Brzyk (Mother War, The Petty Demon, Mary Stuart).
He is a winner of the Young Composers’ Competition of the Polish Composers’ Union (1988) and the All-Polish Competition for a Work for Classical Guitar (1995). In 2003 his Ad Naan was a recommended work at the International Composers’ Rostrum under the auspices of UNESCO in Vienna.
