Mohamed Shoukry

Visual artist Mohamed shoukry was born in Cairo 1976. He studied sculpture at the faculty of applied arts, Helwan University in Cairo 1996-1999 and received Masters Degree in Environmental Sculpture in 2004. He is due to complete a PhD Degree in video sculpture later this year. Shoukry was awarded Second prize, Salon of Youth, Art palace, Cairo Opera House, Egypt 2005, A grant from Triangle Trust for artist in Residency, Hwei Lan International Artist Workshop, Hualien, Taiwan 2003, Second prize,Goethe-Institut Munich, Germany 1999, Third prize, Salon of Youth, Art palace, Cairo Opera House, Egypt 1999. And he also was a Selection Jury Member in First International media art forum for youth (imafy) Art Palace, Cairo Opera House, Cairo, Egypt 2008. Moahmed Shoukry has had many solo exhibitions; including squeezed cultures at the Gezira Art Center, in Zamalek Cairo 2007, “indifference” at the Gezira Art Center, in Zamalek Cairo 2005, “seven” at Cairo Atelier, Downtown Cairo 1999. Shoukry has participated in various international exhibitions, some of which include the “Critical Eye” Exhibition, Kunstverien, Aschafeunberg, Germany 2006, Photography Exhibition, City Conference Hall, Francophone Olympic Games, Niamey, Niger 2005, Teramo Open City Exhibition, Teramo, Italy 2004, National Art Gallery of Athens, World Olympic Games, Athens, Greece 2004, Taipei Artist Village Exhibition, Taipei, Taiwan 2003.
