Ben Barnes
Ben Barnes was Resident Director at the Abbey Theatre, Dublin from, 1982 to 1986, Director of the Gaiety Theatre from 1993 to 1996, Director of Groundwork from 1987 to 1996 and the founding Artistic Director of the Opera Theatre Company. Abroad, his productions have been seen in Tokyo, Kyoto, Perth, Adelaide, Wellington, Glasgow, London, Athens Moscow, St. Petersburg and New York. He won a Harvey's Award for Best Director in 1987 for this production of The Field at the Abbey and Les Liasons Dangereuses at the Gate. Included in his 40 productions at The Abbey are new plays by Bernard Farrell, Graham Reid, Tom McIntyre, Aidan Matthews, and John Banville, among others. This production of Uncle Vanya continues his long and fruitful associate with the Gate Theatre.
