Moisés Kaufman

Moisés Kaufman  received an Obie Award and Tony nomination for his direction of the Pulitzer Prize winning I Am My Own Wife (Drama Desk, Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics Circle Award nominations).

Recently Mr. Kaufman directed One Arm, his adaptation of Tennessee William's screenplay by the same name. He is the founder and Artistic Director of Tectonic Theater Project.  For Tectonic he wrote and directed Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde (Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics Circle, GLAAD Media, Lambda Book and Joseph A. Callaway awards).

He also directed and, with members of Tectonic, wrote The Laramie Project (Drama Desk nomination, American Library Association GLBT Literature Award).  He directed the film adaptation of The Laramie Project for HBO (National Board of Review Award; Humanitas Prize; Sundance Film Festival, opening night selection; Berlin Film Festival, Golden Bear Award Special Mention for Best First Film; IFC Open Palm nomination; four Emmy nominations including Best Movie, Best Director and Best Writing).  Other directing credits include Women in Beckett, In the Winter of Cities, The Nest, Marlowe's Eye.

Last year, Mr. Kaufman received a Guggenheim Fellowship in Playwriting.
