Tony Cownie

Tony has directed Sleeping Beauty, A Life in the Theatre, The Princess and the Goblin, The Taming of the Shrew, The Playboy of the Western World, Miseryguts, Beauty and the Beast, The Comedy of Errors, Britannia Rules, Three Sisters, The Hypochondriak and Cinderella for the Royal Lyceum Theatre Company.

Other work includes The Woman who Cooked her Husband (tour), The Laird O' Grippy (Dundee Rep), the Herald Angel-winning Empty Jesters (Traverse), Shanghaied (Nippy Sweeties) and The King of Scotland (Talking Dogs). Tony was also director of the UK Holocaust Memorial ceremony at the Usher Hall in 2003.

Tony has also worked extensively in Scottish theatre as an actor with companies including The Royal Lyceum, TAG, Communicado, Nippy Sweeties, Citizens, Tron, Traverse and Dundee Rep. He has also worked with Nottingham Playhouse and the Gate Theatre, London. He won The Stage Best Actor Award 1999 for A Madman Sings to the Moon (Brunton).
